We've heard 100x that you become the 5 people you spend the most time with. What we hear less is what we consume- consumes us.
I started becoming intentional with what I consume after having Stella (my oldest). While feeding, changing diapers, cooking, and cleaning I had true crime shows on TV for most of the days, I was learning about unsolved mysteries, serial killers, and all sorts of monsters. The most unexpected part was I didn't notice the gradual shift into anxiousness and paranoia and of course linked it back to what I was filling my brain with. The moment I realized, I had to 'cold-turkey' give up true crime and even fictional shows like Law & Order 👋 .
I can't speak for other people, but I couldn't believe how it was changing how I viewed the world, and quickly.
Now I PUMP myself full of encouragement. If you've ever wondered how I have so much confidence, this is it. Now that sounds cheesy, but in a world full of doom and gloom, it is important to take in positive propaganda. I listen to podcasts and audiobooks that inspire and make me believe the world is a good place and I normalize BIG CONFIDENCE.
Now, if your five best friends or the five people you hang out with aren't HYPING YOU UP FULL TIME- you might want to look for ways to pump yourself up.
